After flying high against the East Chapel Hill Wildcats on Friday, the Apex Friendship Patriots came back down to earth. Apex Friendship took a 59-47 hit to the loss column at the hands of South Central on Saturday.
Despite the loss, Apex Friendship still got an impressive performance from Jasmine Nivar, who scored 26 points along with 9 rebounds and 4 steals. The matchup was Nivar's fifth in a row with at least ten points.
South Central was led to victory by Sabraya Baker and Niyani Mayo. Baker scored 13 points along with 5 steals, while Mayo scored 17 points along with 4 steals. Mayo continues to roll, besting her previous point total in each of the last three games she's played. Another player making a difference was Brooklynne Evans, who scored 9 points along with 8 rebounds.
Apex Friendship's defeat dropped their record down to 3-2. As for South Central, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 5-1.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Apex Friendship will take on Holly Springs at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Holly Springs is hoping to put an end to a four-game streak of away losses. As for South Central, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Northside - Jacksonville at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Northside - Jacksonville comes in still looking for their first win of the season.
