The Francis Scott Key Eagles's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Wednesday after their third straight loss. They took a serious blow against Meade, falling 63-33. While losing is never fun, Francis Scott Key can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Maryland basketball rankings (they are ranked 252nd, while Meade is ranked 38th).
Meade's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Moses Gakodi led the charge by scoring six points along with eight rebounds. Gakodi set a new season high mark in blocks with two. Keon Scott was another key contributor, scoring seven points.
Francis Scott Key's defeat dropped their record down to 1-6. As for Meade, they pushed their record up to 6-1 with that win, which was their 16th straight at home dating back to last season.
Francis Scott Key won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against High Point at 10:30 a.m. on December 28th. Hopefully High Point focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 13 on Wednesday. Meade will wrap up 2023 with a road trip to face off against Wilde Lake at 9:00 p.m. on Thursday.
