Basketball Recap: Lenny Halfter-Hunter's Big Game Can't Quite Lead Richlands over Northside - Jacksonville

Richlands is still winless after their game against Northside - Jacksonville on Wednesday, but the team can take solace in the fact it was the closest they've come to winning. They were three points away from ending the streak, but they lost a 58-55 heartbreaker at the hands of the Northside - Jacksonville Monarchs. Even though they lost, the Wildcats' still made a splash on offense and bumped their average scoring up to 50.5 points per game (they're now ranked -1th in scoring overall).

Richlands' loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Lenny Halfter-Hunter, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and 17 boards. With that strong performance, Halfter-Hunter is now averaging an impressive 8.5 boards per game. Jo?Nathan Kennon was another key player, putting up ten points and seven rebounds.

Even though they lost, Richlands was working as a unit and finished the game with 11 assists. That's the most assists they've posted since back in January.

Joaliel Caraballo went supernova for Northside - Jacksonville, almost dropping a double-double on 12 points and nine steals. Caraballo is crushing it when it comes to steals: he's grabbed at least six every time he's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Reginald Gray III, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 11 boards.

Richlands' defeat dropped their record down to 0-5. As for Northside - Jacksonville, their victory (their first of the season) made their record 1-2.

Richlands wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 66-63 win against Lejeune on the 6th. As for Northside - Jacksonville, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, a 74-57 loss against Topsail on the 6th.
