On Friday, The Roosevelt Roughriders faced the Eastern Ramblers in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Roosevelt came out on top against Eastern by a score of 14-7. The win was a breath of fresh air for Roosevelt as it put an end to their four-game losing streak.
Roosevelt can attribute much of their success to Ethan Walker, who rushed for 72 yards and a touchdown on only nine carries. Walker is on a roll when it comes to solo tackles, as he's now made six or more in the last three games he's played.
Roosevelt's win bumped their record up to 1-7. As for Eastern, their loss dropped their record down to 5-3.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Roosevelt will square off against Jackson-Reed at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Jackson-Reed is on a three-game streak of home losses, Roosevelt a five-game streak of away losses, but someone's luck is about to change. As for Eastern, they will head out on the road to face off against Dunbar at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Dunbar has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 257 points over their last five matchups.
