Ralston Valley (Arvada, Colo.) took the final lead of the game on Saturday as
Collin Root kicked a field goal with with less than a minute remaining in the third quarter, bringing the team to victory over
Grand Junction (Colo.) 23-15.
Each side put up nine points during the third quarter, and the fourth quarter began with the margin still at two.

Tyler Heinsma was the standout player for his team. The junior quarterback ran for two touchdowns. He has now scored six touchdowns on the season.
Andrew Wingard was the top performer for the Mustangs. The sophomore running back ran for two touchdowns. He has now scored three touchdowns on the season.
The victory was a step in the right direction for Ralston Valley, which was coming off a 29-25 defeat at the hands of ThunderRidge in its previous game. The defeat comes as a step back for Grand Junction, which notched a 42-14 victory over Rocky Mountain in its previous outing. The loss snapped Grand Junction's 3-game winning streak.
Ralston Valley (3-1) will play a 5A North Metro game against Fairview next week, while Grand Junction (3-1) will take on Mountain Range in a non-conference game.
