North Central Missouri recap November 5, 2013
Canaan Heinzler and Logan Harris provided fans with a highlight when they connected against Helias. The longest such play in North Central Missouri this season, the connection resulted in 70 yards.
Moberly added to the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating St. Dominic, 55-7. The win marks 10th in a row for the the Spartans.
Travis Dean was a force in the backfield as Fulton beat Chillicothe.
Harris was a key player and the best on defense this week as Marshall fell to the Crusaders. He pulled down 1 interception.
Austin Hulbert was the best receiver in the league this week as Boonville fell to Macon. Hulbert tallied 7 receptions for 85 yards. Tyler Peterson helped Boonville's passing attack out by catching 5 balls for 35 yards.
The Hornets' Joe Schlemeier and Dalton Horstmeier have formed a dream team this season, leading North Central Missouri in both passing and receiving yards. Schlemeier has thrown for 1,808 yards this season, while Horstmeier has 35 catches for 785 yards. Kirksville's Blake Riley leads the league in rushing yards with 982.
The top two teams in the league will face off this week when first place Moberly takes on second place Hannibal.
Fulton's Dean is a mere 70 yards away from breaking the 1,000-rushing-yards mark for the season. In 117 carries Dean has put up 930 yards this year.
Going into this week's contest against the Pintos, Pat Kelley's team's Schlemeier needs 192 passing yards to surpass 2,000 on the season.
The Hornets and the Hornets played the closest game in the league this week, with the Hornets eventually emerging with a 34-30 victory. Dean ran for 214 yards and caught 2 passes for 32 yards in the win.
