4A Cowapa recap Oct. 23, 2012
Scappoose extended the longest winning streak in 4A Cowapa this week by beating Seaside, 28-13. This was the team's seventh consecutive win.
Scappoose's dynamic duo of Taylor Loss and Paul Revis proved tough for the Seagulls to stop, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Loss threw for 211 yards and three touchdowns and Revis had 101 yards receiving. Kyle Kramer helped Scappoose's passing attack out by catching three balls for 72 yards.
Dakota Kemper was the most productive running back in the league this week. In 20 carries, he ran for 198 yards as Banks defeated Seaside. Graysen Partain also contributed to the rushing game with 41 yards on the ground.
Cody Fox made the biggest impact on defense this week as Astoria lost to the Braves. The 5-foot-10 senior recorded one fumble.
Scappoose's offense has been unstoppable this season and the Indians feature the season leaders in passing, rushing and receiving yards. Loss has thrown for 2103 yards and 30 touchdowns this season, while Revis has 73 catches for 1364 yards. Carson Davison leads the league in rushing with 837 yards.
Two of the top units in 4A Cowapa will face off this week when the Indians take on the Fishermen. Scappoose's offense has scored 325 points this season, good for No. 1 in the league, while Astoria has allowed only 157 on the year.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when Banks takes on Tillamook. As it stands, Ben Buchanan's team is in second, while the Cheesemakers are in third.
The Braves made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 6,959 from 7,414. The improvement came about via a 26-20 victory over Howard Rub's team last week.
