Croton-Harmon got a great performance from Oren Rouas as he struck out nine batters over five innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off five hits. That's the most strikeouts Rouas has posted since back in April of 2024.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Sam Levine, who went 3-for-4 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. Max Fredman was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Westlake won against Hendrick Hudson last Wednesday with 11 runs and they decided to stick to that run total again last Friday. The Wildcats were the clear victors by an 11-1 margin over Blind Brook. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Wildcats.
Keith Haecker made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over six innings pitched. Haecker was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one triple and two RBI.
In other batting news, Frank Vessa was incredible, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and one RBI. Another player making a difference was Desmond Hernandez, who went 2-for-3 with two RBI and one double.
Croton-Harmon's win was their sixth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 5-2. Those road victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.5 runs on average over those games. As for Westlake, their win bumped their record up to 2-0.
Croton-Harmon skirted past Westlake 5-3 in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Do the Tigers have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Wildcats turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
