Timberline is 2-8 against Eagle since April of 2019 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Tuesday. The Wolves will venture away from home to challenge the Mustangs at 5:30 p.m. Timberline's pitching crew has only allowed 3.5 runs per game this season, so Eagle's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
Timberline fell victim to Owyhee and their airtight pitching crew on Thursday. They wound up with the same score they had in their last game (1-0), but sadly the team found themselves on the wrong side of the score this time. The contest marked the first time this season in which they were not able to get on the board.
Meanwhile, Eagle made easy work of Centennial on Friday and carried off a 13-5 victory. Considering the Mustangs have won six matchups by more than seven runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Peyton Bargen made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, she struck out nine batters over seven innings while giving up five earned runs off five hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, firing off three home runs and four RBI while going 4-for-4. That's the most hits she has posted since back in March.
In other batting news, Makenzie Owens was incredible, firing off two home runs and three RBI while going 2-for-4. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in May of 2024. Another player making a difference was Emry Woods, who went 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI.
Eagle lost a few balls and finished the game with six home runs. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their home run total in three consecutive games.
Eagle's record now sits at 9-4. As for Timberline, their defeat was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 4-1 and their overall record down to 11-2.
Tuesday's contest might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Timberline has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .460. However, it's not like Eagle struggles in that department as they've averaged .466. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Timberline might still be hurting after the 7-0 loss they got from Eagle in their previous meeting back in May of 2024. Can the Wolves avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
