The Alameda Hornets will head out on the road to challenge the Castro Valley Trojans at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams are sauntering into the matchup backed by comfortable wins in their prior games.
Alameda is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They put the hurt on El Cerrito with a sharp 14-1 win on Thursday. The victory continues a trend for the Hornets in their matchups with the Gauchos: they've now won four in a row.
Molly Cho was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, six RBI, and one double. That home run marked the first that she has launched this season. Mia Wong was another key player, going 2-for-4 with one triple, one stolen base, and two RBI.
Alameda was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .438. The last time their batting average was this high was back in April of 2025.
For some reason, the away team has come away with the win the last three times Castro Valley and Encinal have met, but the home crowd finally got their W on Friday. The Trojans blew past the Jets 13-5. The result was nothing new for the Trojans, who have now won four games by seven runs or more so far this season.
Alanys Robertson spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned (and one unearned) runs on eight hits and racked up eight Ks. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season.
At the plate, Giselle De Casas was a standout: she got on base in four of her five plate appearances with two stolen bases, three runs, and one double. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in May of 2025. Another player making a difference was Mikayla Ortega Tomasini, who got on base in four of her five plate appearances with three runs, four RBI, and one double.
Alameda's record is now 6-1. As for Castro Valley, their record now sits at an identical 6-1.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Tuesday. Alameda hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 0.7 home runs per game. However, it's not like Castro Valley struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 0.7 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
Alameda beat Castro Valley 8-4 in their previous meeting back in May of 2025. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Hornets since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
