After a string of five wins, the Southern Choctaw Indians's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They fell just short of Choctaw County by a score of 44-42. Southern Choctaw was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Choctaw County apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in December of 2023.
Tyshawn Carlisle was his usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 15 points and 12 rebounds for Choctaw County. Carlisle is on a roll when it comes to points, as he's now scored 15 or more in the last five games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Johnny Grice Jr., who scored seven points along with seven rebounds and two steals.
Southern Choctaw's defeat ended a six-game streak of away wins and brought them to 11-2. As for Choctaw County, their win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 5-9.
Coincidentally, both teams will both be playing Millry the next time they take the court. Choctaw County will head out to face Millry at 7:30 p.m. on Monday, while Southern Choctaw will host them at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
