Basketball Recap: Union County Comes Up Short

Union County lost against Bradford back in January of 2018 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The Union County Fightin' Tigers fell 60-49 to the Bradford Tornadoes. The Fightin' Tigers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

When it comes to explaining why Union County lost, don't look at Gavin Jenkins. Despite the final result, he went 11 for 19 on his way to 28 points in addition to five boards and three steals. Jenkins is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed three or more in the last four games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Isaiah Folaji, who posted seven points.

Jordan Cason was his usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 22 points and ten boards for Bradford. Another player making a difference was Jy'Quez Cason, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and 13 boards.

Union County's loss dropped their record down to 3-2. As for Bradford, their victory bumped their record up to 5-2.

Union County will get a bit of extra time to process the defeat as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Keystone Heights at 7:30 p.m. on January 3, 2025. Union County is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 54 points per game this season. As for Bradford, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 62-48 win against Middleburg on the 20th.
