Huntingtown is on a four-game streak of home wins, while North Point is on a ten-game streak of away wins (dating back to last season): one of those streaks is about to end. The Huntingtown Hurricanes will take on the North Point Eagles at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. Huntingtown will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Maryland Rankings (they are ranked 125th, while North Point is ranked 49th).
Huntingtown struggled with assists on Wednesday (St. Charles had eight more) and sadly the final score reflected it. Huntingtown's rough 56-34 loss to St. Charles might stick with them for a while. The defeat unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Huntingtown in their matchups with St. Charles: they've now lost four in a row.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Eva Powell, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 16 rebounds. She hasn't dropped below ten rebounds for four straight games. Another player making a difference was Sofia Hoetzlein-sirman, who scored six points along with two steals.
Meanwhile, North Point stacked a ninth blowout win onto their ever-increasing hoard on Wednesday. They breezed by McDonough at home to the tune of 61-25.
Huntingtown's defeat dropped their record down to 12-7. As for North Point, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 12 of their last 13 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 14-5 record this season.
Huntingtown was taken down by North Point 76-40 when the teams last played back in February of 2022. The matchup was all but decided by halftime, at which point Huntingtown was down 47-20.
