The Skaneateles Lakers will head out on the road to face off against the Marcellus Mustangs at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both teams are coming into the contest red-hot, with Skaneateles sitting on three straight victories and Marcellus on eight.
Skaneateles scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Tuesday. They really took it to Solvay for the full four quarters, racking up a 59-22 victory at home. The match was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point Skaneateles had established a 34 point advantage.
Meanwhile, Marcellus put the finishing touches on their fourth blowout victory of the season on Friday. They claimed a resounding 62-33 victory over Jordan-Elbridge at home. Given Marcellus' advantage in MaxPreps' New York basketball rankings (they are ranked 125th, while Jordan-Elbridge is ranked 278th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Skaneateles has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games, which provided a massive bump to their 7-5 record this season. As for Marcellus, their win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 8-1.
Skaneateles ended up a good deal behind Marcellus when the teams last played back in December of 2023, losing 39-23. Can Skaneateles avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
