AAA District 11 recap Oct. 23, 2012
Centennial took down Shelbyville Central 52-28 last week, the largest margin of any game.
The Cougars led AAA District 11 in scoring this week after putting up 52 points on the Golden Eagles.
Independence's offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Chase Swayze threw for 138 and one touchdown and Oscar Prado had 87 yards receiving. On the ground Jalen Wade chipped in 82 yards. Vic Wharton III helped Independence's passing attack out by catching six balls for 60 yards.
6-foot-3 quarterback Joe Critchlow of Franklin is the league leader in passing yards this season with 1100. He has also thrown 12 touchdowns. On the ground, Brentwood's Ben Green has rushed for 1014 yards which leads the league. The leading receiver in the league this season is Andy Schumpert. The Brentwood star has 13 catches for 357 yards.
Wade of the the Eagles is only 67 yards short of surpassing 1,000 rushing yards for the season. In 137 carries Wade has accumulated 933 yard this year.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when the Rebels take on the Bruins. As it stands, Franklin is in fifth, while Brentwood is in first.
The Raptors made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 4,566 from 5,178. The advance stemmed from a 21-14 victory over Smyrna last week.
