The Luis Valdez Leadership Academy Lions are still winless after their matchup against the KIPP Esperanza Eagles on Tuesday, but the team can take solace in the fact it was the closest they've come to winning. Luis Valdez Leadership Academy fell just short of KIPP Esperanza by a score of 28-25.
KIPP Esperanza found their leader in underclassman Tuli Vea, who scored 11 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jonathan Torres, who scored nine points.
Luis Valdez Leadership Academy bumped their record down to 0-4 with that loss, which was their 15th straight on the road dating back to last season. As for KIPP Esperanza, their win ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 3-6.
Luis Valdez Leadership Academy is on the road again on Thursday and play against El Primero at 6:00 p.m. on December 14th. Hopefully El Primero focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 31 on Monday. As for KIPP Esperanza, they will be playing in front of their home fans against East Palo Alto Academy on Thursday.
