Colquitt County is on a eight-game streak of home wins, while Valdosta is on a three-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Colquitt County Packers will take on the Valdosta Wildcats at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Colquitt County has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 367 points over their last eight contests.
Even though Lowndes scored an imposing 34 points on Friday, Colquitt County still came out on top. Colquitt County enjoyed a cozy 52-34 victory over Lowndes. Given Colquitt County's advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia football rankings (they are ranked fourth, while Lowndes is ranked 54th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Colquitt County got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Neko Fann out in front who threw for 347 yards and four touchdowns while picking up 12.0 yards per attempt. The team also got some help courtesy of Ramsey Dennis, who rushed for 123 yards and two touchdowns on only 14 carries.
Meanwhile, Valdosta narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past Camden County 24-21. 24 seems to be a good number for Valdosta as the squad scooped up a victory with the same number of points in their previous game.
Among those leading the charge was Todd Robinson, who rushed for 132 yards while picking up 7.8 yards per carry, and also threw for 80 yards and a touchdown while completing 81.8% of his passes. Another player making a difference was Deron Foster, who rushed for 104 yards and a touchdown.
Their wins bumped Colquitt County to 8-0 and Valdosta to 7-2.
Colquitt County strolled past Valdosta in their previous matchup back in October of 2022 by a score of 24-6. Will Colquitt County repeat their success, or does Valdosta have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
