Central Valley is 9-1 against Ceres since March of 2020 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. The Hawks will face off against the Bulldogs at 4:00 p.m. Central Valley is coming into the match hot, having won their last four games.
Last Thursday, Central Valley made easy work of Lathrop and carried off an 11-1 win. Considering the Hawks have won eight contests by more than six runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
Nicholas Dominguez looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over four innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in four consecutive appearances.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Fernando Dominguez, who went 1-for-2 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. The team also got some help courtesy of Andre Flores, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3.
Meanwhile, after a string of 12 wins, Ceres' good fortune finally ran out on Thursday. They fell just short of Beyer by a score of 9-7. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Bulldogs have suffered since March 20, 2024.
Carson Ulrich made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and scored two runs and stole three bases while going 3-for-4. Another player making a difference was Daniel Davis, who scored a run while going 3-for-4.
Ceres' defeat was their first in the league, dropping their league record down to 9-1 and their overall record down to 15-4. As for Central Valley, their victory bumped their record up to 14-7.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Tuesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Central Valley has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.1 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Ceres struggles in that department as they've been averaging 4.8 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Central Valley came out on top in a nail-biter against Ceres when the teams last played back in March of 2024, sneaking past 6-5. Will the Hawks repeat their success, or do the Bulldogs have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
