Steele has enjoyed the comforts of home their last two games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will square off against the Avon Eagles at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Steele will be strutting in after a win while Avon will be coming in after a loss.
Steele posted their biggest victory since November 22, 2023 on Monday. They blew past Normandy 51-27. Steele has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won four games by 23 points or more this season.
Meanwhile, Avon was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap on Saturday as they fell 56-52 to Midview. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Avon in their matchups with Midview: they've now lost five in a row.
Molly Drenik put forth a good effort for the losing side as she dropped a double-double on 20 points and 11 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points she has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Grace Mangan, who scored seven points along with five assists and five rebounds.
Steele's win bumped their record up to 7-5. As for Avon, their loss dropped their record down to 8-6.
Steele came out on top in a nail-biter against Avon in their previous matchup back in December of 2023, sneaking past 59-56. The rematch might be a little tougher for Steele since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
