The Milton Panthers''s recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Friday after their fifth straight loss. They took a serious blow against Crestview, falling 49-22. The match was up for grabs at halftime, but sadly Milton struggled afterwards.
Although Milton took the loss, they still got scores from Tate Williams, Malik Cobb, and Bryson Brown.
Crestview's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Patrick Rodgers led the charge by rushing for 113 yards and four touchdowns, while also picking up 57 receiving yards. Nathaniel Nocher was another key contributor, rushing for 118 yards and a touchdown on only 13 carries.
Milton's loss was their fifth straight at home (dating back to last season), which dropped their overall record down to 2-6. As for Crestview, their victory ended a three-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 2-6.
Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Milton will challenge Pace at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Pace presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Milton in Florida (Pace is ranked 63rd, while Milton is ranked 361st). As for Crestview, they will head out on the road to face off against Leon at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Leon comes in on a streak of failing to score more than seven points in their last three games, a trend the squad is of course eager to reverse.
