Softball Recap: Clear Lake Triumphs

Clear Lake posted their closest victory since April 10, 2024 on Thursday. They won by a run and slipped past the Fort Bragg Timberwolves 8-7. The Cardinals haven't had any issues with the Timberwolves recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.

Atiana Patino spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and six unearned) runs on seven hits and racked up six Ks. Those hits marked the first that she allowed this season.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Lindee Bingham, who scored a run while going 3-for-4. What's more, she posted two RBI, the most she's had since back in April of 2024. Cali Albaum was another key player, scoring two runs while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.

Clear Lake's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 4-2. Those home wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.7 runs on average over those games. As for Fort Bragg, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-3 record this season.

We've got plenty of inter-league action coming up soon. Clear Lake will challenge rival Cloverdale at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Fort Bragg is set to face off against their familiar foe Middletown at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
