The Giddings Buffaloes and the Connally Cadets squared off in some playoff action on Friday, but sadly the Giddings Buffaloes had to settle for second. Giddings' rough 27-6 defeat to Connally might stick with them for a while. Having soared to a lofty 38 points in the game before, Giddings couldn't push the score so high this time.
Gunnar Fromme threw for 37 yards on four of 12 attempts. Joshua Chairez was his top target, picking up 30 receiving yards. On the ground, Bryson Mcdaniel rushed for 96 yards.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Connally to victory, but perhaps none more so than Jamarion Vincent, who rushed for 80 yards and a touchdown, and also threw for 144 yards and two touchdowns. Another player making a difference was Kobe Black, who picked up 113 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Giddings bumped their record down to 3-8 with that defeat, which was their fourth straight at home. Those losses can't be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 26.5 points per game. As for Connally, the victory (which was their fifth in a row) raised their record to 8-3.
Giddings does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Connally will be staying on the road on Friday to face off against Jasper at 7:30 p.m. on November 17th. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Texas (Jasper is ranked 173rd, while Connally is ranked 197th).
