The Travelers Rest Devildogs will square off against the Greer Yellow Jackets at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Travelers Rest is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.2 runs per game this season.
Travelers Rest made up a huge gap compared to their last game against Seneca, but they still couldn't quite topple them. The Devildogs fell just short of the Bobcats by a score of 3-1 on Monday. The Devildogs haven't had much luck with the Bobcats recently, as the team has come up short the last four times they've met.
Iris Cisson spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and two unearned) runs on five hits.
At the plate, Travelers Rest saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Alyssa Capps, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and one run. That hit was Capps' first of the season.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Greer). They put the hurt on Southside Christian with a sharp 13-1 win on Tuesday. The high-scoring effort was just what the Yellow Jackets needed considering they were shut out in their previous matchup.
Morgan Arterburn made a splash while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run over four innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one walk any time she's pitched this season. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-3 with one home run and three RBI. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April of 2025.
In other batting news, Greer got a massive performance out of Adison Howard, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. That's the most runs Howard has posted since back in April of 2025. Delia Watson was another key player, going 1-for-2 with three runs, one double, and one RBI.
The victory got Greer back to even at 2-2. As for Travelers Rest, their defeat dropped their record down to an identical 2-2.
Tuesday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Travelers Rest hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .352. However, it's not like Greer struggles in that department as they've averaged .337. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Travelers Rest skirted past Greer 5-4 when the teams last played back in April of 2025. Do the Devildogs have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Yellow Jackets turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
