Baseball Recap: East Wake Academy Extends Winning Streak to Three

East Wake Academy entered their tilt with Wake Prep Academy on Friday with two consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with three. They put the hurt on the Guardians with a sharp 12-2 victory. The result was nothing new for the Eagles, who have now won five matchups by ten runs or more so far this season.

Jordan Fuentes made a big impact while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two hits in three consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 1-for-3.

In other batting news, Dylan Palmer and James Duffield did most of the damage at the plate: Palmer got on base in four of his five plate appearances with one home run, three runs, and two RBI, while Duffield went 3-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. Palmer is becoming a predictor of East Wake Academy's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 1-2 when he doesn't).

East Wake Academy was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .393. The team's really been improving in that area: they've now improved their batting average total in three consecutive games.

East Wake Academy's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 6-2. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 15.3 runs over those games. As for Wake Prep Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 4-3.

The future could be bright for both East Wake Academy and Wake Prep Academy: their next opponents haven't had the best luck recently. East Wake Academy will look to extend Knightdale's four-game losing streak when they meet at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. Meanwhile, Wake Prep Academy will try to hand NCSSM: Durham their fourth-straight defeat when the two meet at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
