Braden River has enjoyed a four-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. The Braden River Pirates and the Waggener Wildcats will round out the year against one another at 1:30 p.m. on Thursday at. Braden River knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past seven contests -- so hopefully Waggener likes a good challenge.
Even though Parrish Community scored an imposing 55 points on Thursday, Braden River still came out on top. The stars were shining brightly for Braden River in a 73-55 win over Parrish Community. Given Braden River's advantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 127th, while Parrish Community is ranked 346th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Braden River's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Marcus Schade, who scored 24 points along with six rebounds and five assists. That makes it four consecutive games in which Schade has scored at least 25% of Braden River's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Isaac Heaven, who scored 14 points along with six steals and five assists.
Meanwhile, Waggener had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 21 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. They were the clear victor by a 69-47 margin over Louisville Collegiate.
Braden River is on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 7-4 record this season. As for Waggener, their win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 4-5.
