After two weeks on the road, Gehlen Catholic is heading back home. On Friday they will take on Hartley-Melvin-Sanborn at 7:00 PM. The MaxPreps rankings say the odds are against Gehlen Catholic, but that can only make success all the sweeter.
Things haven't been easy for Gehlen Catholic, and their contest last Friday only extended their streak of losses to three. It was close but no cigar for Gehlen Catholic as they fell 14-17 to Hinton last Friday.
Meanwhile, Hartley-Melvin-Sanborn got themselves on the board against Marcus-Meriden-Cleghorn/Remsen-Union, but Marcus-Meriden-Cleghorn/Remsen-Union never followed suit. Hartley-Melvin-Sanborn took the matchup and then some with a 76-0 victory over Marcus-Meriden-Cleghorn/Remsen-Union. Followers of Hartley-Melvin-Sanborn probably expected little less of the squad in a season in which they have collected three blowout victories.
Hartley-Melvin-Sanborn's win lifted them to 5-3 while Gehlen Catholic's loss dropped them down to 1-7. We'll find out if Hartley-Melvin-Sanborn can add another positive mark to their record or if Gehlen Catholic can shake off the defeat and take the spring out of Hartley-Melvin-Sanborn's step.
