The Leeds Greenwave will challenge the Moody Blue Devils at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.
As a matter of fact, Leeds put up the most points they have all season on Friday. They were just a hair shy of victory and fell 50-49 to St. Clair County.
The losing side was boosted by Sam Lollar, who threw for 228 yards and two TDs, and also rushed for 35 yards.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for Moody, who bounced back after a loss on the road last Friday. They took their contest on Friday with ease, bagging a 53-0 win over Center Point. The result was nothing new for the Blue Devils, who have now won four matchups by 21 points or more so far this season.
Moody's win came from a few key players Leeds will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Jake Lowery, who threw for 265 yards and three touchdowns on only 14 passes, and also punched in one score on the ground. He has become a key player for Moody: the team is undefeated when he posts at least three passing touchdowns, but 1-2 otherwise. Kevin James helped Lowery out on the ground, rushing for 102 yards and a pair of TDs.
They were just one part of a punishing run game: Moody was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 262 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've posted since back in November of 2024.
On the defensive side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Moody's defense and their three sacks. The team can thank three different players for their defensive prowess: Cam Mallory, Willie Kimble, and Kaiden Mitchell, who each picked up one sack apiece. Moody got some further help from Mallory: he picked up a sack and made eight total tackles (3.0 for loss).
Moody's victory was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 5-2. The home wins came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 8.4 points on average over those games. As for Leeds, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-2.
We should be in store for an exciting game as Leeds and Moody have no problem gaining yardage. The Greenwave have been on an offensive roll this season, having averaged 368.6 total yards per game. However, it's not like Moody struggles in that department as they've been averaging 373.7 total yards. With a pair of commanding offenses duking it out, the defenses are going to have their work cut out for them.
Leeds was dealt a bruising 42-0 loss at the hands of Moody in their previous meeting back in November of 2024. Will the Greenwave have more luck at home instead of on the road? Come back here after the game to get an analysis of the match and other football content.
