The Berthoud Spartans were the 49-48 winner over the Thompson Valley Eagles when they last played one another back in November of 2022, but their luck changed this time around. Berthoud was the victim of a rough 50-28 defeat at the hands of Thompson Valley on Tuesday. Berthoud found out winning isn't easy when you're outrebounded 18 to ten on offense.
Despite the loss, Berthoud still got an impressive performance from Sydney Slauson, who scored 7 points along with 3 steals. Avery Pfohl was another key contributor, scoring 6 points along with 5 steals.
Thompson Valley's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Paige Wagner, who scored 17 points along with 5 rebounds. Another player making a difference was Libby Jarosik, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 16 rebounds.
Berthoud's loss dropped their record down to 0-1. As for Thompson Valley, their victory bumped their record up to 1-0.
Berthoud will head out on the road to face off against Northridge at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Thompson Valley, they will be playing at home against Fort Morgan at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
