Wasilla is preparing for their first conference matchup of the season on Thursday. They will welcome the Colony Knights at 6:30 p.m. Wasilla is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 11.4 runs per game this season.
Wasilla barely beat West Valley the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Warriors were the clear victors by a 10-1 margin over the Wolf Pack on Saturday. The win continues a trend for the Warriors in their matchups with the Wolf Pack: they've now won five in a row.
LaLo PaLomares made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching two innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. Palomares was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with two runs and one RBI.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Bridger Berta, who went 2-for-3 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. He also put up a double, which was his first of the season. Another player making a difference was Camden Mette, who went 1-for-3 with four RBI and one double.
Meanwhile, Colony posted their closest victory since April 9, 2025 on Wednesday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Palmer, sneaking past 5-4.
Clay Wood looked comfortable as he didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only two hits over four innings pitched. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Colony is 2-1 when he allows at most one earned run, but 0-3-1 otherwise.
At the plate, Hayden Sherman was excellent, going 1-for-4 with three stolen bases and two runs.
Colony's win bumped their record up to 2-4-1. As for Wasilla, their victory bumped their record up to 4-1.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Thursday as neither team is afraid to steal. Wasilla has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.8 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Colony struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 4.1 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Wasilla came up short against Colony in their previous matchup back in May of 2025, falling 5-2. Can the Warriors avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
