Eagle Pass is 9-1 against United since March of 2019 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Friday. The Eagle Pass Eagles will welcome the United Longhorns at 7:00 p.m. Eagle Pass' pitching crew has only allowed 3.7 runs per game this season, so United's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
Eagle Pass had to skate by with only a two-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the seven-run drubbing they dealt Alexander on Tuesday. Eagle Pass never let Alexander get on the board and left with a 7-0 win. The Eagles haven't had any issues with the Bulldogs recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive victory against them.
Mia Silva was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing Two bases. while going 3-for-4. The team also got some help courtesy of Krysta Ruiz, who scored two runs while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances.
Eagle Pass hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now struck out at most five strikeouts in eight consecutive matches.
Meanwhile, United came up short against Medina Valley on Tuesday, falling 16-4. The Longhorns have struggled against the Panthers recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost meetings.
United saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Tatiana Mejia, who went 1-for-4 with one triple and two RBI. That triple marked the first that Mejia hit this season. Another was Regina Rodriguez, who scored a run while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances.
United's defeat dropped their record down to 7-13-1. As for Eagle Pass, their win bumped their record up to 9-1.
Friday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Eagle Pass hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .484. However, it's not like United struggles in that department as they've averaged .320. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
