Even though the Mount Paran Christian Eagles scored an imposing 55 points on Saturday, the Therrell Panthers still came out on top. Therrell secured a 60-55 W over Mount Paran Christian. This was payback for Therrell, who suffered a 72-69 loss the last time these two teams met.
Therrell found their leader in underclassman Gordon Davis, who scored 21 points along with seven rebounds and three steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Davis has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Antwon Young, who scored eight points along with three steals.
Several Eagles players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Carter Galbreath, who scored 18 points along with seven rebounds. Christopher Park was another key contributor, scoring 17 points.
Therrell's win bumped their record up to 6-19. As for Mount Paran Christian, their loss dropped their record down to 14-10.
Therrell will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Washington at 7:30 p.m. Therrell is coming into the match with six straight wins at home, so Washington is out to stop a team with plenty of momentum. Mount Paran Christian will take on KIPP Atlanta Collegiate at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Mount Paran Christian is strutting with some offensive muscle, as they've averaged 63.5 points per game this season.
