Baseball Recap: Richmond Picks Up Seventh Consecutive Victory

Richmond extended their winning streak to seven on Thursday, bumping their season record up to 7-0 in the process. They never let the Buckfield Bucks get on the board and left with a 7-0 win. Considering the Bobcats have won six matchups by more than five runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Brady Alexander was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out eight over seven innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than one earned run in three consecutive appearances. He was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one triple and one run. That triple marked the first that he has hit this season.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Cale Harrington, who went 1-for-2 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now snagged at least one in each of the last five games he's played. Cody Fournier was another key player, going 1-for-4 with one triple, one run, and one RBI.

Richmond hit smart and finished the game with only two strikeouts. The team has now struck out at least five batters in six consecutive contests.

As for Buckfield, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 2-4 record this season. The match marked the first time this year in which they were not able to get on the board.

On Buckfield's side, they saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Krosby Harvey, who went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases.

Coming up, Richmond will take on Carrabec at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Bobcats' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Cobras have averaged an impressive 8.8 runs per game this season. As for Buckfield, they will face off against Old Orchard Beach at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
