The Dobson Mustangs will face off against the Browne Bruins at 3:45 p.m. on Monday. The timing isn't great for Dobson: they have been struggling with eight straight losses at home, while Browne has snatched up 14 consecutive wins on the road dating back to last season.
Things were looking good for Dobson after they put the first run on the board on Thursday, but unfortunately for them things went downhill from there. They came up short against Skyline, falling 23-5.
Natalie Hamblin was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-3 with one triple and one RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Hayden Brown, who went 1-for-2 with three RBI.
Meanwhile, Browne got themselves on the board against Tempe on Friday, but Tempe never followed suit. They were the clear victors by an 11-0 margin over the Buffaloes. The result was nothing new for the Bruins, who have now won 13 matches by seven runs or more so far this season.
Browne let Dania Duran and Seilah Sauceda run wild. Duran went a perfect 2-for-2 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double, while Sauceda went a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs, two doubles, and two RBI. Duran is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as she's now snagged at least one in each of the last four games she's played. Another player making a difference was Annalyssia Ramos, who went 2-for-3 with two doubles, two RBI, and one run.
Browne kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 12 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least 11 hits in four consecutive games.
Dobson's loss dropped their record down to 4-21. As for Browne, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 16-4 record this season.
Monday's matchup will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Dobson hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .323. However, it's not like Browne struggles in that department as they've averaged .416. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Dobson beat Browne 9-4 when the teams last played back in March of 2022. Do the Mustangs have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Bruins turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
