Despite the defeat, Carolina M had strong showings from Jahmari Smith, who scored 19 points along with 5 steals, and Cameron Marshall, who scored 15 points along with 7 rebounds. Marshall scored a full 30.6% of Carolina M's points, the fifth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Meanwhile, even though Neuse Christian Academy scored an imposing 58 points on Tuesday, Cristo Rey Research Triangle still came out on top. Cristo Rey Research Triangle snuck past Neuse Christian Academy with a 62-58 victory.
Cristo Rey Research Triangle can attribute much of their success to Christian Gill, who scored 22 points, and Jamaal Miller, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 18 rebounds. That makes it three consecutive games in which Miller has scored at least 25% of Cristo Rey Research Triangle's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Immanuel Holland, who scored 11 points.
Carolina M's defeat dropped their record down to 2-5. As for Cristo Rey Research Triangle, they now have a winning record of 2-1.
Keep an eye on the arc in Friday's matchup: Carolina M have made nailing deep shots look easy this year this season, having only averaged 4.1 threes per game. It's a different story for Cristo Rey Research Triangle, though, as they've been averaging only 0 per game. Given Carolina M's sizeable advantage in that area, Cristo Rey Research Triangle will need to find a way to close that gap.
