The Mountain View Toros had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 25.7 points), and they went ahead and made it four on Friday. They enjoyed a cozy 31-14 win over Tolleson. Given Mountain View's advantage in MaxPreps' Arizona football rankings (they are ranked 22nd, while Tolleson is ranked 92nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Mountain View to victory, but perhaps none more so than Jack Germaine, who threw for 187 yards and two touchdowns. Mikey Sumko did his part to keep the secondary busy, picking up 90 receiving yards and a touchdown.
Several Wolverines players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Amari Mitchell, who gained 95 total yards and a touchdown.
Mountain View has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests, which provided a nice bump to their 6-2 record this season. As for Tolleson, their loss was their tenth straight on the road (dating back to last season), which dropped their overall record down to 1-7.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Mountain View will take on Cesar Chavez at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Cesar Chavez is coming into the game on a four-game losing streak. As for Tolleson, they will be playing at home against Westwood at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
