The Ovilla Christian Eagles pushed their score all the way to 59 on Tuesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They ended up on the wrong side of a rough 84-59 walloping at the hands of Nazarene Christian Academy. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their prior game last Friday (57), Ovilla Christian still had to take the loss.
Several Eagles players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Lyric White, who dropped a double-double on 14 points and ten assists. White has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last six times he's played. Noah Herndon was another key contributor, scoring ten points.
Marcus Jones was his usual excellent self, scoring 29 points along with seven rebounds and four steals for Nazarene Christian Academy. Jones is on a roll when it comes to steals, as he's now grabbed two or more in the last 11 games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Aidan Adams, who almost dropped a double-double on 15 points and nine rebounds.
Ovilla Christian's loss dropped their record down to 14-9. As for Nazarene Christian Academy, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 19-6.
Ovilla Christian will look to defend their home court on Friday against Bethesda Christian at 7:30 p.m. Bethesda Christian is coming into the matchup with four straight wins on the road, meaning Ovilla Christian will have to defend against a squad hungry for a victory. As for Nazarene Christian Academy, they will challenge Christian Life Preparatory at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Nazarene Christian Academy focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 25 on Tuesday.
