While losing is never fun, Canyon Springs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 678th, while Palm Springs is ranked 70th).
Canyon Springs' defeat came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Derek Williams, who scored 20 points. The match was Williams' third in a row with at least ten points. Another player making a difference was Kayden Mims, who scored 7 points along with 7 rebounds.
Canyon Springs has been struggling recently, as they've lost three of their last four games, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-4 record this season. As for Palm Springs, the win for they keeps them at an undefeated 5-0.
Canyon Springs will take on Elsinore at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Elsinore knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past five contests -- so hopefully Canyon Springs likes a good challenge. As for Palm Springs, they will head out on the road to face off against Warren at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Warren focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 14 last Saturday.
