Hesperia (Calif.) saw its 14-point lead dwindle to nine, but still managed to hang on and defeat
Sultana (Hesperia, Calif.) 23-14 on Saturday.
After taking the lead on a rushing touchdown in the first quarter, the Scorpions led 14-0 at the half.
Both teams scored six points in the third quarter, so the margin remained at 14 entering the fourth.

Andrew Robbins played well. The senior quarterback ran for one touchdown. His performance brought his touchdown total to 12 on the year.
Austin Williams played well for Hesperia in the victory. The sophomore quarterback threw two touchdowns and kicked one extra point.
Coming into the game HHS had allowed 25.4 points per game this year. The Scorpions held firm on the defensive front, and kept Sultana below the 20.0 points it had been averaging per game.
The victory is a complete turnaround from last season's game between these two teams, which SHS took, 38-10.
The victory was a step in the right direction for Hesperia, which was coming off a 63-14 defeat at the hands of Serrano in its previous game.
