Baseball Recap: Brandon Comes Up Short

Brandon lost against West Monroe back in March of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Brandon Bulldogs came up short against the West Monroe Rebels, falling 8-2. The Bulldogs have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Brandon saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Keith Forbes, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.

Brandon's defeat dropped their record down to 6-6. As for West Monroe, their victory was their 13th straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 7-3-1.

Brandon and West Monroe should be looking forward to their upcoming games as both have a sizable advantage in their respective state rankings. Brandon will take on Warren Central at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday up 76 places (28 vs. 104). Brandon is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.8 runs per game this season. Similarly, West Monroe (ranked tenth) will meet Northwest Rankin (ranked 97th) at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Brandon's pitching crew has only allowed 3.9 runs per game this season, so West Monroe's hitters will have their work cut out for them.
