Rock Island extended their winning streak to three on Wednesday, bumping their season record up to 9-4 in the process. They narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past the Biggsville West Central Heat 2-0. For the Rocks, this counts as revenge for the 9-2 win the Heat walked away with the last time they faced one another back in April of 2023.

Not much got past Maddie Carroll, who gave up just five hits and racked up nine Ks to keep Biggsville West Central off the board. Carroll has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Rock Island's victory was truly a team effort as five different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Maddie Franks, who went 2-for-3 with two doubles. Those two doubles gave Franks a new career-high.

As for Biggsville West Central, with the defeat, they broke their four-game winning streak and moved their record to 7-2. The game marked the first time this season in which they were not able to get on the board.

On Biggsville West Central's side, Addie Seitz spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on six hits.

Rock Island wasted no time getting back out on the field and has already played their next match, a 1-0 win against Quincy on the 17th. As for Biggsville West Central, they have also already played their next contest, a 16-0 victory against Monmouth United on the 17th.
