Lincoln's Daniel Edwards recorded the longest rushing play in Eastern this season in his game against Hoover last week. Edwards' team topped the Cardinals as he sprinted for 79 yards on the play and finished with 142 in all.
Lincoln moved up to 132 from 162 in the state rankings this week, the biggest jump in the league. David Dunn's team climbed the ranks as a result of defeating Hoover 42-7.
JoJo Hudson put up the best numbers through the air as St. Augustine bested Scripps Ranch. He finished with a total of 17 completions for 178 yards and one touchdown. Hudson's favorite target this week was Patrick Dixon, who caught four passes for 51 yards.
Tony Johnson was the most productive running back in the league this week. In 18 carries, he ran for 237 yards as Cathedral Catholic beat Mira Mesa. Teammate Theo Hardson added to the ground attack by rushing for 102 yards.
Williams was the best wideout in Eastern this week as the Dons defeated the Marauders. Williams tallied three receptions for 80 yards. Drew Gaffney helped Cathedral Catholic's passing attack out by catching two balls for 27 yards.
6-foot-4 quarterback Ian Hardman of the Hornets is the league leader in passing yards this season with 1180. He has also thrown 14 touchdowns. On the ground, the Saints' Elijah Preston has rushed for 877 yards which leads the league. The leading receiver in the league this season is Williams. The Cathedral Catholic star has 24 catches for 496 yards.
Two highly touted recruits will be in the spotlight when Lincoln and St. Augustine meet this week. The Hornets features well-regarded senior Tyrell Robinson while Richard Sanchez's team has Frank Buncom IV, a sought after sophomore.
A big matchup in the league this week will be when Lincoln takes on the Saints. As it stands, the Hornets are in third, while St. Augustine is in first.
There should be lots of points scored when Lincoln and the Saints face off this week. The top two offenses in the league, the Hornets comes in having scored 290 this season, while St. Augustine has scored 302. Lincoln scored 42 points last week as it beat Jerry Ralph's team.
Cathedral Catholic extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating Mira Mesa, 42-11. The win marks fifth in a row for the Sean Doyle's team.
