Mountain View has been on the road for three straight, but on Thursday they'll finally head home. The Mountain View Mountain Lions and the Severance Silver Knights will face off at 7:00 p.m. on January 25th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the pair will really light up the scoreboard.
Last Tuesday, Mountain View came up short against Frederick and fell 70-60. Despite running the score up even higher than they did in their last game on Monday (59), Mountain View still had to take the loss.
The losing side was boosted by Bradey Messinger, who scored 25 points along with three steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points he has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Dylan Garland, who scored 16 points.
Meanwhile, Severance came tearing into Wednesday's matchup with five straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 20.2 points) and they left with even more momentum. They came out on top against Thompson Valley by a score of 71-62.
It was another big night for Brady Varney, who dropped a double-double on 23 points and ten rebounds. He is on a roll when it comes to rebounds, as he's now pulled down eight or more in the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Jaden Hoffman, who scored 17 points along with six rebounds.
Mountain View's defeat dropped their record down to 5-7. As for Severance, they are on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 11-4 record this season.
This contest is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: Mountain View have been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 22.4 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Severance struggles in that department as they've been averaging 32.7 rebounds per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
Mountain View ended up a good deal behind Severance when the teams last played back in December of 2023, losing 51-33. Will Mountain View have more luck at home instead of on the road? Come back here after the game to get analysis of the match and other basketball content.
