Southwest came tearing into Friday's matchup with six straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 27.6 points) and they left with even more momentum. They claimed a resounding 34-7 win over Southwest Legacy at home. The score at the end of the third wound up being the final score as Southwest just coasted through the last quarter.
Southwest's success was spearheaded by the efforts of Timothy Olague, who threw for 267 yards and two touchdowns while picking up 12.1 yards per attempt, and Aazeryuan Voss, who picked up 170 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
Meanwhile, after only ten points in their last match, Corpus Christi Veterans Memorial made sure to put some points up on the board against King on Friday. Corpus Christi Veterans Memorial simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat King 65-7 on the road. Given Corpus Christi Veterans Memorial's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 352nd, while King is ranked 1097th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Corpus Christi Veterans Memorial's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Billy White III, who threw for 237 yards and three touchdowns on only 13 passes. Luke Moya was in the mix as well, providing Corpus Christi Veterans Memorial with two touchdowns.
Corpus Christi Veterans Memorial's defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB four times. King's QB won't forget Chris Vasquez anytime soon given Vasquez sacked him twice.
Southwest's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-1. They've been dominating during the contests in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 31.67 points. As for Corpus Christi Veterans Memorial, their victory bumped their record up to 7-3.
Things could have been worse for Southwest, but things could have been a whole lot better as they took a 26-7 loss to Corpus Christi Veterans Memorial in their previous matchup back in November of 2021.
