The Albemarle Bulldogs waltzed into their matchup on Wednesday with seven straight wins but they left with eight. They strolled past Union Academy with points to spare, taking the game 71-54. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Albemarle also won the last time the pair played back in February of 2023.
Amari Baldwin continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, scoring 23 points along with four steals. Baldwin is absolutely dominating the point category: she's posted at least 15 every time she's taken the court this season. Bianca Robinson was another key contributor, scoring 14 points along with seven rebounds.
Despite the loss, Union Academy still got an impressive performance from Paisley Boatright, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 16 rebounds. Boatright hasn't dropped below eight rebounds for seven straight games. The team also got some help courtesy of Ranon Suttle, who scored ten points along with five steals.
Albemarle's victory was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 11-1. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 70.8 points per game. As for Union Academy, their defeat ended an eight-game streak of wins at home and dropped them to 9-2.
Albemarle will head out on the road to square off against Mount Pleasant at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Mount Pleasant will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps North Carolina Rankings (they are ranked 325th, while Albemarle is ranked 82nd). As for Union Academy, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Charlotte Latin at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Charlotte Latin is coming into the matchup on a three-game losing streak.
