Udall hasn't had much luck against Cedar Vale/Dexter recently, but that could start to change on Thursday. The Eagles will be defending their home field for the first time this season when they go up against the Spartans at 6:00 p.m. Both come into the contest bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Nine must be Udall's lucky number: they beat Oxford with that score not once but twice on Monday. The Eagles came out on top against the Wildcats by a score of 9-6.
Addison Robinson made a splash while hitting and pitching. She struck out eight batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned (and five unearned) runs off three hits (and only one walk). Robinson was also big at the plate, going 3-for-4 with three RBI.
Robinson wasn't the only one making solid contact as six players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Liberty Mason, who went 1-for-4 with one double and one RBI. Criscenda Eilers was another, scoring two runs while going 1-for-4.
Meanwhile, Cedar Vale/Dexter strolled into their game on Monday with a perfect record and they left with the same. They beat Sedan by the very same score they won with in their prior game: 16-1. Considering the Spartans have won five matchups by more than eight runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.
Like Udall, Cedar Vale/Dexter also got a great game from a two-way player: Gracie Webb. On the mound, she pitched three innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. Webb was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring three runs and stealing four bases while going 3-for-3. Those four stolen bases gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Zoe Davidson, who scored three runs and stole three bases while getting on base in all three of her plate appearances. She has been hot recently, having posted two or more stolen bases the last three times she's played. Another player making a difference was Kylee Bragg, who went 2-for-3 with four RBI, one triple, and one run.
Cedar Vale/Dexter was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .571. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .379 or higher every time they've taken the field this season.
Cedar Vale/Dexter pushed their record up to 6-0 with the victory, which was their tenth straight on the road dating back to last season. The road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 15.5 runs over those games. As for Udall, their victory bumped their record up to 2-0.
Udall might still be hurting after the 19-6 loss they got from Cedar Vale/Dexter in their previous matchup back in April of 2024. Can the Eagles avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
