The Packinghouse Christian Academy Bears will face off against the Calvary Baptist Cougars at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Packinghouse Christian Academy is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 11.7 runs per game this season.
On Tuesday, Packinghouse Christian Academy was able to grind out a solid victory over Cornerstone Christian, taking the game 9-6. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Bears.

Emily Toma was a major factor no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out 11 batters over seven innings while giving up three earned (and three unearned) runs off six hits. Toma was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-3 with one home run, two stolen bases, and three RBI. She has been hot, having posted at least one stolen base the last five times she's played.
In other batting news, Packinghouse Christian Academy got a massive performance out of Savannah Ybarra, who scored two runs and stole four bases while going 1-for-3. Madison Hopkins was another key player, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while going 2-for-3.
Meanwhile, Calvary Baptist made easy work of Norton Science & Language Academy on Tuesday and carried off a 23-2 win. The Cougars might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won nine matches by 11 runs or more this season.
Like Packinghouse Christian Academy, Calvary Baptist also got a great game from a two-way player: Bri Rosales. Throwing, Rosales struck out eight batters over two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and only one walk). Meanwhile, Reagan Hanson struck out eight batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits (and not a single walk). At the plate, Rosales scored three runs and stole a base while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances, while Hanson went 2-for-3 with one home run, six RBI, and two runs. Those six RBI gave Hanson a new career-high.
In other batting news, Isabella Macias was a standout: she went a perfect 3-for-3 with four runs, two stolen bases, and five RBI. Those RBI marked the first that she brought in this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Isabel Chatoney, who scored three runs and stole three bases while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.
Calvary Baptist always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .781. They are 9-1 when they post an OBP of .513 or better.
Calvary Baptist's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-4. Those home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 19.3 runs over those games. As for Packinghouse Christian Academy, they now have a winning record of 4-3.
Thursday's contest might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Packinghouse Christian Academy has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .648. However, it's not like Calvary Baptist struggles in that department as they've averaged .648. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Packinghouse Christian Academy suffered a grim 29-17 defeat to Calvary Baptist when the teams last played back in April of 2024. Can the Bears avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
