Basketball Game Preview: Tri-Point Chargers vs. Clifton Central Comets

Tri-Point and Clifton Central are an even 5-5 against one another since December of 2017, but not for long. The Tri-Point Chargers will venture away from home to square off against the Clifton Central Comets at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Tri-Point comes in on 13 and Clifton Central on three.

On Monday, Tri-Point didn't have too much trouble with Gardner-South Wilmington as they won 50-32. Given the Chargers' advantage in MaxPreps' Illinois basketball rankings (they are ranked 311th, while the Panthers are ranked 645th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

Meanwhile, Clifton Central won against Grant Park on Thursday with 50 points and they decided to stick to that point total again on Monday. Clifton Central strolled past Momence with points to spare, taking the game 50-36.

Tri-Point pushed their record up to 20-5 with the win, which was their eighth straight on the road. Those victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 53.4 points over those games. As for Clifton Central, their victory bumped their record up to 19-9.

Tri-Point beat Clifton Central 47-37 in their previous meeting two weeks ago. The rematch might be a little tougher for Tri-Point since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
