Indian Land's loss shouldn't obscure the performances of Katilyn Knoll, who dropped a triple-double on ten points, 12 boards, and ten steals, and Ava Pensule, who posted 11 points and six steals. That's the most steals Pensule has posted since back in December of 2023. Another player making a difference was Emily Callahan, who had eight points and six rebounds.
Even though they lost, Indian Land smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 21 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in 25 consecutive games dating back to last season.
Meanwhile, Clover got the win against Varsity Opponent on Thursday by a conclusive 64-38. The Blue Eagles have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won ten matches by 24 points or more this season.
Clover found their leader in sophomore Olivia Lewter, who went 9 of 11 on her way to 20 points in addition to five boards and three steals. Lewter also set a new season-high mark in blocks with three. Another player making a difference was Clara Powell, who put up 12 points and eight boards.
Clover pushed their record up to 13-2 with the victory, which was their eighth straight at home. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 31.6 points. As for Indian Land, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-12.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Indian Land has been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 36 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Clover struggles in that department as they've been averaging 34.9 boards. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
Indian Land was taken down by Clover 66-27 in their previous matchup back in November of 2018. Can Indian Land avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
