The Calhoun Red Devils will head out on the road to square off against the Union Tigers at 2:45 p.m. on Saturday. Calhoun is hoping to put an end to an 11-game streak of away losses.
On Thursday, Calhoun took a serious blow against Gilmer County, falling 86-27. While losing is never fun, Calhoun can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' West Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 98th, while Gilmer County is ranked ninth).
Union suffered their biggest defeat since December 13, 2023 on Thursday. They were outmatched by Pocahontas County at home and fell 69-33. Union has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Calhoun's defeat dropped their record down to 0-8. As for Union, they have been struggling recently, as they've lost three of their last four contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-7 record this season.
Calhoun strolled past Union in their previous matchup back in February of 2022 by a score of 51-37. One of the biggest obstacles trying to stand in the way of that victory was Union's Bridgette Knapp, who scored 16 points along with eight rebounds and four blocks.
