The Mojave Rattlers will challenge the Foothill Falcons at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Mojave's pitching crew heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Monday. They blew past Chaparral 16-0. The result was nothing new for the Rattlers, who have now won four contests by ten runs or more so far this season.
Emiko-Lin Kalani made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, tossing three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Kalani was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while getting on base in all four of her plate appearances.
In other batting news, Aurora Scoggins was a standout: she scored three runs and stole two bases while going 3-for-3. Another player making a difference was Jadin Broadnax, who went 1-for-2 with two stolen bases, one triple, and two RBI.
Mojave always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .793. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Foothill hadn't done well against Desert Oasis recently (they were 0-4 in their previous four matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Monday. The Falcons walked away with a 12-9 win over the Diamondbacks. With that victory, the Falcons brought their scoring average up to 6.2 runs per game.
Jazzy Hall was incredible, going 4-for-5 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March of 2024. The team also got some help courtesy of Hailey Gilbertson, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 1-for-5.
The win made it two in a row for Foothill and bumps their season record up to 4-8-1. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.5 runs over those games. As for Mojave, their win bumped their record up to 4-6.
Wednesday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Mojave hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .317. However, it's not like Foothill struggles in that department as they've averaged .321. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Mojave suffered a grim 16-1 defeat to Foothill in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Can the Rattlers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
